Worried about walking alone? Looking for one walk to get started? Looking for a healthy outdoor activity for you or your family? Visit our open meetings for answers and friendly advice.
The Cedar Milers Volkssport Club was founded in 1988 by our beloved Shirley Corey. The goal of the club is to promote fitness and fellowship through walking and Volkssporting. Our community group draws members from Beaverton, Tigard and West Portland, though we have members from all over. We are a nonprofit organization, with all proceeds from events invested in future events, community service projects, charities or club activities.
We sponsor several walks each year. The most widely known are those we host. At these, we provide a staffed start and finish, trail markings, and a checkpoint with volunteers, water and candy. We also offer map-guided walks that you may take almost any day of the year.
We meet on the 2nd Monday of each month, from 7:30 PM to 8:30PM in the Sycamore Room of the Beaverton Community Center. Our December meeting is a fun-filled potluck. Here we talk about the last year, laugh and exchange White Elephant gifts. We usually forgo meeting in July and August as these are popular vacation choices.
You are absolutely welcome to visit our meetings! We dedicate the first part of each meeting to new walkers and your questions. You can find walking partners and the locations of our future walks. You can also learn more about "doing your own thing" and walk Volkswalks whenever you want to. You can have all of your questions answered in person by enthusiastic walkers. Do you know about a nice park, pathway or neighborhood? Please visit one of our meetings and tell us about it! Email us for details and directions.
